The former UK leader, launched the inaugural episode of her online program with a vow to unmask "the evil-doers" attempting to bring down Britain, the US and Europe. She stated she would uncover how an "global web of liberal activists work to undermine democracy and the will of the people."

"We will examine the Trump revolution and see how this can be replicated in Britain," Truss declared. "Our guests will include the leading lights of the Maga movement."

In advance of the program's debut, there was a strong advocate. "This is the beginning of a type of revolution," said veteran reporter John Solomon. The right-leaning Just the News platform will carry the former prime minister's new broadcasts.

Forging Alliances in the Maga Media Ecosystem

British fellow travellers, including a counselor supportive of Reform, played a role in her launch the Truss's program. The production is competent, if basic. The show has attracted a subscriber base of 10k in her first week and her first episode achieved sixty-seven thousand views across the same period.

This marks a humble beginning, but in aligning with the journalist, Truss is being pushed into a mature right-wing media network generating and disseminating Make America Great Again themes. Its obsessions encompass accusations of information control by the established press and a aim to dismantle a conspiratorial 'deep state' – a force that she attributes her downfall to for the abrupt termination of her disastrous time in office.

"Solomon's outlet is not widely recognized past the Maga-verse, but it does have gravitas there, mostly due to its founder, who offers opinions on conservative outlets like Bannon's 'War Room' podcast and has even spoken with the former president," noted Alex Hinton, who has closely studied the Trumpist political wave.

A Contentious Ally

Her effort to bring the pro-Trump media model to the UK has pushed her closer to controversial figures such as John Solomon.

He founded Just the News following backlash following accusations of pushing misleading narratives about the President's actions in the Eastern European nation, as well as contentious articles about the former US ambassador to Ukraine.

Solomon's reporting were echoed throughout the conservative press, with the journalist serving as a regular guest on the prominent cable news broadcast. Donald Trump promoted the journalist's work.

He wrote the Ukraine claims in a number of opinion pieces for the outlet the Hill, where he was moved to a columnist role following internal criticism about his work. His narratives were key in Trump's demand for the officials in Kyiv to look into the Bidens in that year. This pressure culminated in articles of impeachment against the president. Senators later voted to acquit the then-president.

Weeks after the journalist departed the publication in late 2019, the publication announced it was conducting a review of his columns relating to Ukraine. It determined Solomon had relied on untrustworthy contacts and said he "did not disclose important details about main Ukrainian informants, including the reality that they had been formally accused or were under investigation."

Entering the Ecosystem

His broadcast spots are a sign of the political media environment Truss is entering. He talked about his support for her new show on a program he presents on the right-wing channel, a conservative television outlet that is home to the conservative firebrand former adviser Steve Bannon and on which Tucker Carlson also is seen. The ex-PM has already interviewed the political operative on an early episode.

By partnering with the journalist and his outlet, the former leader has become a niche participant in a much wider network of conservative media outlets that routinely share and promote one another's material.

Solomon's own podcast and Real America's Voice show have repeatedly hosted individuals such as influencer Mike Benz, a rightwing influencer whose criticism of the US Agency for International Development was cited by Elon Musk as reasoning behind dismantling the international development organization.

An International Strategy

While her awkward delivery and professional woes have invited ridicule in Britain, certain American analysts are taking seriously her efforts to rebrand as a UK offshoot of the pro-Trump media ecosystem.

"One must regard people like Truss with seriousness, despite the fact that you may not want to interpret them word-for-word," said Rob Flaherty, who served in the Biden administration.

"Observers witnessed how in the recent campaign Donald Trump utilized that media network to disseminate his views. Certainly that network transmits and affects conversation overseas. It looks fairly obvious to me that the conditions in the Britain are similar to what allowed this non-mainstream media network to prosper here."

Professor Alan Finlayson, said the internet-based conservative network was already having an impact in Britain.

"Digital media transcends national boundaries," he said. "There's a kind environment within which stuff flows – on occasion taking an extreme form and occasionally in softer tones – but which is connected."

Hinton said the growth of the internet-based right wing in the UK lately meant the "potential to have a larger effect is considerable."
